Sir James discusses the life of Thomas Tallis, one of the great English composers who navigated the turmoil of the English reformation. Written during the reign of King Edward, Tallis’s motet is a great example of simplicity and clarity expressed through text that fosters love and discipleship. MacMillan also recalls an experience of performing this motet with special needs children at his music festival, The Cumnock Tryst.
