One of the first pieces of classical music he heard, MacMillan reflects on the beauty of Mozart’s Quintet—particularly the reflective nature of the second movement. In that slow music, MacMillan shows us how Mozart can take us into a journey of the heart. Sir James also expresses appreciation and admiration for Benny Goodman’s interpretation of Mozart. Through Goodman, MacMillan came to see how great artists can embrace a diversity of musical forms and expressions.
